The Pulpit is controlled by the frame work  which can be seen as a large "scroll" being rolled back to reveal the Bethlehem Star.  The Star supports a cross and is itself supported by a larger cross.
The Pulpit reveals the Word of God. The scroll work at the top of the frame suggests the opening of a book to receptive ears.

Revelation: .
"...He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches"
When entering  the pulpit the preacher or reader will be reminded of the Cross Christ bore.

"The Lord gave the Word. Great was the company of the preachers."
There is a great chorus buried in Handel's Oratorio "Messiah" with the text below. The text and chorus are brief,  but Handle's setting is great and comes to my mind when I see this view.
