I have made numerous crosses based on an original design that came from a cross that hangs in First Methodist Church of Saline Michigan. The unknown designer and builder was apparently a past member of the church. My version of his design has a darker stain than the original but I attempted to retain all other design elements.
I called it a "Gothic Cross" This cross is made from Red Oak and measures 29"x 48"x 3".
Later I resized this design to a smaller version- 24"h by 14.5" w and have since made numerous crosses in this style.
Below are some more recent designs-others are just recently sketched and yet to build built.
The crosses will be on display from March 6 through April 30.
In the last few years I have added some new designs to these wall crosses. These new designs are based on a variety of scripture passages, hymns, songs, and poems.
This lenten season these designs will be on display in the Fellowship Hall of University Lutheran Chapel, located at 1511 Washtenaw Ave. on the University of Michigan Campus.
