I have added the Black Walnut back ground cross and I have made a new Dove. The Dove is loosely taped to the structure for demonstration purposes.
The Dove is just a bit smaller and fits within the Star Cross.
The Dove also has a more three dimensional shape. It's feathers rise from the star cross background.
The  star cross tapers from the center outward. It has a slight "lift towards the points-I think I like that but it can be glued tight all along it's length and width.
The mounting holes in the Back Cross still need to be located and any details that cover them need to be finalized. Then final sanding and finishing.
Here is what I am thinking about the mounting holes. Several Years ago I made the Chancel Furnishings for Open Arms Lutheran Church in Belleville. The large Sanctuary Cross was bolted to the high atrium window in the front of the Sanctuary.
The Cross is mounted with three lag bolts. These lag bolts are covered with medallions that contain the star burst elements and a copper piece that is a combined shape of a cross and a star. These copper pieces represent the wounds of Christ.
I'd like to use a similar technique for the LJMC.-although probably not with the maple star points.
