All of the legs are now attached to the cabinets. As I mentioned in the design phase-I would have recommended a horizontal stretcher to join the upper sections of each set of legs-but this didn't fit the lines of the design you wanted. Part of the resulting compromise in the design then is a rather weak attachment point where the legs are just butt joined to the bottoms of the cabinets. These joints are screwed together. There was very little room to accomplish this so I could only get one screw in most of the joints. I did manage to add a dowel in the front joints of the larger cabinet.
The side cabinet is temporarily attached to the main cabinet with a pair of screws through the cabinet walls and the stretcher below which is attached with pocket screws to the cabinet and a mortise and tenon joint to the legs.
Although the pictures don't show it- I decided to drive screws through the outside of the legs through the bottom of the cabinets. This was to help the otherwise inherently weak attachment point. I need to re-veneer over these sides to cover the screw holes.
The main work on the cabinets and legs is now finished-Just re-veneer the sides where I screwed the legs to the cabinets then sand for finishing, I also need to drill the mounting holes for the towel bars on the side cabinet legs.
I have three of the drawers roughed in for the dovetail joints. I anticipate finishing the drawers this weekend-fingers crossed.
