Basic Framework
August 13,2015
Interior Blocking and Drawers are set. Outer Face Frame is fabricated and glued to top of the table.
After many steps- The Chess/Checkerboard is coming together.
Theboard should be laid out so that the lower right corner has the light square. In our design I have this set so the board will be played from the "short" sides of the table- or the "Drawer" sides.
Board is glued up and next the surroundings veneered panels are glued together.
Here the board is aid out according to original plan-To be played from "short" or "drawer" side.
Here the board is rotated 90 degrees to be played from the "long" or "Not drawer" side
Top playing surface gets a temporary boarder and the first coat of finish is poured.
I made these leveling inserts. 1/2" bolts drilled and tapped for 3/8 Bolts to level the top.
I made these leveling inserts. 1/2" bolts drilled and tapped for 3/8 Bolts to level the top.
The leveling inserts were epoxied into the corner blocks. The 3/8 Bolts can be adjusted with a screwdriver to level the top.
The inside playing surface (still to felt coated) fits around the leveling bolts.
The top will then sit flush with the outer framework.
I made these threaded inserts and these Brass Leveling Pads
A threaded insert is epoxied into the bottom of each leg.
Then a leveling pad is screwed into the insert.
