I started work on the side walls of the case section. The walls will have Gothic styled windows. The walls are baltic birch plywood with quarter and riftsawn Oak veneer. I don't have a scroll saw that would allow me to cut the windows out of the plywood directly, so I had to use my band saw.
To get the band saw cuts started in the window areas, I ripped the plywood along the window lines, then I made arched window cutouts. The  plywood sections were rejoined with  /2 inch square strips of solid oak.
Next I cut the angle on the "roof" line.
Case is starting to take shape. It will be a "cathedral" like setting.
Here are the veneered walls.
The tops of  the walls will be covered by a "cap".
Here are the "capped" walls loosely set in place.
The Bible Case will be finished with a mix of  Minwax Red Mahogany and Jacobean stains . This will give a rich aged looked to the wood. Before the stain goes on though I am going to add some "gilding" to some of the details. I mix Mica Powder in a Brass tone with amber shellac.
The base gets gilding on the upper support sections, the feet, the rosettes that I added, and the Gothic Shield.
I made small brass elements in the form of a cross/ sword that will be set inside the Gothic Shield.
Note also that I have added brass rods in the lyre sections. These will get trimmed below the surface of the horizontal dowel.
