This is a chess set I gave  to my son Spencer as a college graduation gift.
This is a three generation piece. My dad made the walnut footstool.  His dad-Herbert Young (my Grampa Young) made the walnut and maple chess board, and I turned the chess pieces from broom poles when I was about 20.

This chessboard was commissioned by the Everest Academy of Clarkston, Michigan for an auction. The board is made from Maple and Sapele and has the Everest Crest inlaid in the center of the board.
Completed in March 2014-this Chess Ensemble features a board made from Sapele and Maple squares with a framed boarder of Cherry, Walnut and gilded molding. The legs and aprons are Sapele. The drawer fronts are Walnut and Maple.  
  There are two sets for this table-One with Walnut and Maple pieces on Brass bases.
  This set I turned 30 years earlier out of cold-rolled steel. The finish is Enamel.
Completed in October  2015-this Game Table  features a board made from Sapele and Bird's Eye Maple squares set in a a Sapele Veneered top.  The legs, aprons and drawers are Sapele. The top- when removed, reveals a felt covered surface for puzzles or card games.  
This chess set was designed and built for my Son-in-law when he took a new Job with a Start-Up in San Francisco. The set reflects the color schemes of the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders football teams.
