Carving and Gilding the Top

The top of the desk will get some lightly carved and gilded designs.  Several of these are taken from the hardware piece I mentioned earlier-and which is used in full for the front shields.
You can see here that I traced a portion out for one section of the top.

Using a small carving gouge, I cut the design into the top.
I proceeded to the cut all the designs into the top then applied  shellac based gilding to each figure.
after the gilding sets, I need to re-cut the lines in the designs because they get somewhat filled in with the gilding solution.
