You indicated you wanted to store DVD's Cd's in the lower section. I made two shelves and spaced them approximately 6.75 inches apart- ie as the interior space allowed. Rather than drilling holes up and down the sides- I made spacers that are screwed to the sides of the interior walls. These allow the shelves to by "captured" yet removable if needed...
After making these shelves it was decided that pull out drawers would be better. So I removed the shelves and supports and built three drawers on extension slides.
There isn't room to put a pull on the drawers without them being hit by the doors when they are shut so I cut out a section of the drawer fronts so your hand has a place to pull the drawer out.
We might consider placing a brass bar on the inside of the cut out section so finger oils don't build up and collect grime.
We might then consider placing an inset brass piece on the front of each drawer for your hands to push -again to prevent a build-up of oil and grime
Lastly- I'd like to persuade you to consider using these types of metal brackets to hold the glass shelves in the upper cabinet. I am showing white one that I have on hand but we can order "Walnut Toned" brackets that would sort of "fade" into the background. Click on Waltnut toned bracket picture for more details----
Here are some sketches to illustrate and clarify the manner in which the drawers function.
The drawers will be set inside the cabinet so they do not touch the backside of the doors when the doors are shut.
The drawers are spaced apart such that there will be room for hands/fingers to pull the brass bar that is set inside each drawer top .
The brass plate on each drawer is functional and decorative. The functionality is a place to push the drawer back in so finger oils don't accumulate on the wood over time.
